Trying to find rental properties that allow pets can be a challenge, and we want to help you with this process! First and foremost, give yourself plenty of time for your housing search and make sure you are checking regularly. (We have included resources for finding pet friendly housing below.)
Make sure your pet is up to date on their shots and groomings as this can help put a potential landlord’s mind at ease. In addition, create a pet resume that has information about your pet so that your landlord can see all their best qualities, essential information and records, and a cute picture in one convenient form. Also try and ensure that your potential landlord has the opportunity to meet your pet; oftentimes face-to-face interactions can help put your landlord’s mind at ease.
Be prepared for extra fees that may come along with pet friendly housing and make sure you ask about the pet policies to ensure no hidden fees pop up.
