TAILS & TALES
reading is fun!
Did you know, animals LOVE to be read to?!
Research shows that reading to shelter animals before the shelter opens helps them calm down before the sometimes noisy hustle and bustle when visitors arrive.
We welcome children to come read with an adult. This is a great way for kids who are too young to volunteer with the animals in other ways to help animals while also working on their reading skills! Plus, it's a great bonding experience for kids and adults.
Please check in at the front desk, then meet with our educators in the Humane Education room for training and to pick out books (or feel free to bring your own homework or chapter book!). Then pairs can read to dogs or cats from 11:15-12:00.
One adult/one child pairs can read to the animals at 11:00 am on the following dates.
