Education Programs
The AAHS education program empowers students to speak up for animals rather than accept the role of passive observers. The program introduces students to the Animal Allies Humane Society as not only a community animal shelter but also a community agency that they can contact when they see an animal - any animal - who needs help. Students participating in the AAHS education program become aware of the numerous responsibilities, costs and time commitment associated with caring for a companion animal. Ultimately, in time, students who participate become the agency's animal adopters and supporters rather than perpetrators of animal abuse and neglect. These students also learn to extend kindness and mercy to animals and become more just, kind and considerate in their relationships with one another. This kind of character building in our youth will eventually result in more humane and law-abiding adults.
